Bethany for Children & Families guides individuals and families through the process of becoming licensed foster or adoptive parents in Illinois.
Who can foster?
Foster parents must
-
be stable and law abiding individuals
-
be at least 21 years of age
-
live in Illinois
-
be caring, patience, and understanding for the child's need.
Each person has many strengths and skills and can make a unique contribution to a child's life.

What does the process look like?
The training and licensing process usually takes three to six months. This period of time includes training and home preparation. After licensing and training are completed, children may be placed in your home. Annual continuing education to enhance skills is also required.
The support that is provided:

Monthly reimbursement for food, clothing, housing, and transportation.

Medical card for each child to cover health care and prescriptions.
