The Ways to Work program is designed to assist low-to-moderate income families that are unable to receive a car loan from a bank or credit union due to poor, or no credit history. The aim is to help clients maintain or improve their employment situation and their ability to financially support a family.
Ways to Work focuses on financial literacy, and requires loan applicants to realistically assess their financial situation and to develop a monthly family budget. Counseling sessions stress the importance of a good credit rating and review steps for repairing credit.
A loan committee, made up of non Bethany employees, reviews the application and makes a decision upon the information presented. Borrowers may receive up to $4,000 loan at no more than 8 percent interest with a two-year payment term.
