Prevention Education

Bethany for Children & Families offers a wide array of educational services to the young people, parents, and the community, in an effort to reduce the incidence of teen pregnancy, STIs, and other risky behaviors. These services are designed to help youth develop positive self-esteem, strengthen communication skills, and cultivate responsible decision-making skills. The programs can be offered in various timeframes: One-time presentation, week-long class, or weekly program.

one time workshop

Specific topics for a community education workshop can cover: Sexting and Media Literacy, Human Growth and Development, Anxiety and Stress Management, Alcohol Abuse Prevention, Substance Abuse, Consent, Healthy Relationships, Dating Violence, and Safe Sex and Abstinence. Sessions can range from 45 minutes to two hours and are offered to youth (ages 10 and up) and adults.

Draw the Line

Draw the line shows students how to set personal limits and meet challenges to those limits. The program is available to 6th through 8th-grade students.

FLASH (Family Life and sexual health)

FLASH is a program designed to prevent teen pregnancy, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), and sexual violence. Further, it provides knowledge about the reproductive system and puberty. It is available to junior high students, high school students, and special education students.

The Big Talk

This program is designed to help parents and caregivers prepare to have difficult conversations about sex and growing up with their children. This interactive workshop includes activities to help adults build skills to help children feel comfortable discussing these uncomfortable subjects.

Love notes

The Love Notes program teaches students what healthy relationships are and are not. It helps students build skills for choosing friends and partners. Additionally, it helps them develop and maintain healthy relationship. The program is available for high school students.

Making Proud Choices

The curriculum for Making Proud Choices provides adolescents with the knowledge, confidence, and skills necessary to reduce their risk of sexually transmitted diseases and infections (STIs), HIV, and pregnancy. It is available to 7th and 8th-grade students.

3 R's (Rights, Respect, Responsibility) 

The 3 Rs Program, Rights, Respect, Responsibility, is a K-12 curriculum that addresses healthy relationships and sexuality in an age-appropriate manner.

Wise Guys

Wise Guys offers young men a chance to learn how to make healthy choices and reach their educational and personal goals. It is currently taught in seven area schools. It is available to junior high students, high school students, and community groups.
